I'm wondering why Obama couldn't work New Orleans into his schedule.

Once the primaries for certain states are over, where are the candidates?  Remember how Bush courted every 'little' voter until he was (never say won) in office?  Then, Katrina hit and where was George.  Are we now seeing a repeat of George with Obama and McCain skipping out on the voters once the votes are cast?

The annual State of the Black Union forum boasts a number of famous names as it gets under way in New Orleans, but this year's event is getting much more attention for who won't be there.

Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York, was the only major presidential candidate to accept an invitation to attend.

Her rival, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, declined, as did Republican presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

But it's Obama's absence that's prompted both controversy and a backlash against Tavis Smiley, the organizer of the event who has openly criticized Obama's decision.

While I am not a Hillary supporter, I am not an Obama supporter nor a McCain supporter either.  I am a John Edwards supporter and I believe in give each his/her dues.  Hillary Clinton gets the tip of the hat on this one for sticking with the voters even when they've 'spent' their votes already.  Shame on Barack Obama for his inconsistent and self-serving messages!
